Nyala Farms Blood Drive a Success
Nyala Farms participated in the second annual
Property Manager and Landlord Blood Drive Challenge benefitting
the American Red Cross on June 26th.
The property’s goal was to collect 35 pints of blood. With a turnout
of 56 donors, 38 productive pints of blood was collected. Tenants that
participated included: Bridgewater, Energizer/Playtex, Pequot, Phibro,
Smith Barney and Terex.
Nearly 5 million people receive blood transfusions every year. Connecticut
residents alone use 650 pints of blood every day with a demand that peaks during
the summer months. Despite all medical advances, healthy volunteer blood
donors are the only source of blood. With just one donation, up to three
lives can be saved. Connecticut has 31 transfusing hospitals where each
donated unit of blood can be separated to serve different individuals.
