Stamford
Downtown Special Services District (DSSD) is once again holding
its Art in Public Places event. Cavalcade of Colors: Color and Form
in Outdoor Art will feature numerous sculptures on loan to the City
of Stamford by a renowned group of national sculptors. These spectacular
works of art will line the sidewalks and parks of the Downtown as
well as the Stamford Town Center. Again, as an added attraction,
65 photographs donated by 32 talented photographers will be on display
in Stamford Downtown merchant windows. Cavalcade of Colors runs
June through August.
As
a sponsor of the event, The Ashforth Company has chosen Jon Krawczyk’s
“Apache Sun,” which stands over seven feet tall and
is made of copper, silver and bronze. The sculpture will be on the
sidewalk in front of Ashforth’s headquarters, located at 707
Summer Street in downtown Stamford.
At
the conclusion of the exhibit, the donated featured photographs
will be auctioned and proceeds will be donated to two local charities,
Tully for Teens and the Dental Center.
Jon
Krawczyk is a graduate of Connecticut College and nationally renowned
bronze sculptor for over 10 years. His works appear in several museums
and galleries, including Aaron Gallery in Washington DC, the Betsy
Lane Sculpture Garden in California and the Lumina in Taos, New
Mexico. Pieces in public collections can be found from New York
to California.
“The
Ashforth Company is delighted to support Cavalcade of Colors and
the terrific work that DSSD does to make downtown Stamford a desirable,
safe and enjoyable destination,” noted Kim DePra, Director
of Marketing for The Ashforth Company.
