On August 28, several Ashforth employees participated in The Connecticut Challenge, a cycling event founded and managed by Bike Across America. This non-profit organization is committed to cancer patients, survivors and their families by contributing money directly to fund programs at the Yale Cancer Center in New Haven, Connecticut.

This bicycle ride featured 25-, 50- and 100-mile distances throughout the Connecticut countryside. The ride began in the historic Greenfield Hill section of Fairfield. The 25-milers rode a moderately flat course through Fairfield and continue along the Gold Coast Shores of Greens Farms and Southport. The longer distance groups traveled north through Weston and into Bethel with the 50-milers turning back and the 100-milers going further north around Lake Waramaug in New Preston.

Ed Tonnessen, George Walker and Paul Tortora from Ashforth’s brokerage division along with Richard Battista from The Ashforth Company teamed up and biked 50 miles. Collectively their fundraising efforts will exceed $6,000.

Bike Across America raises money and awareness in the fight against cancer by hosting fundraising events like “The Connecticut Challenge”. The founders and family of BAA have been involved with non-profit endeavors a good part of their lives through running, swimming and other athletic events dating back to 1984. Over that time they have collectively raised over $14,000,000 through these events. Visit www.ctchallenge.org for more information on The Connecticut Challenge.
