Three buildings managed by Albert B. Ashforth, Inc – Management Services, were honored with prestigious TOBY (The Office Building of the Year) awards by Southern Connecticut Chapter of the Building Owner & Managers Association (BOMA). Ridgebury Officenter in Danbury, CT received a TOBY for buildings between 100,000 – 249,999 square feet, Greenwich Plaza received a TOBY for buildings between 250,000 – 499,999 square feet, and 707 Summer Street received the Earth Award.

TOBY’s are awarded on the basis of building management staffing, tenant services, amenities, community involvement and building presentation. Both Ridgebury Officenter, a 120,000 square foot building located in Danbury, Connecticut and Greenwich Plaza, a 316,000 square foot office complex located in downtown Greenwich, Connecticut have a long history of service to the community and sponsor numerous events dedicated to supporting community-based programs. Recent events sponsored by the buildings were Person-to-Person’s clothing drive that provides much needed clothing to families in the nearby area, a cell phone drive benefiting victims of domestic violence, book fairs benefiting community children’s agencies, The Volunteer Center’s Pajamas and Books Program, and The Bennett Cancer Center WALK & RUN.

The Earth Award is awarded to buildings on the basis of operation efficiency, water and energy conservation and management of hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste (including reduce, re-use, recycle and recover programs). 707 Summer Street, a 74,000 square foot office building, located in downtown Stamford has made several daily operational changes in effort to minimize toxic elements released into the environment. A few of the changes include the replacement of chemical cleaners with “green” cleaners, and hiring a recycling company to assist in the collection, proper packaging and disposal of the portion of the waste stream that qualifies for recycling, such as, light bulbs, ballasts, batteries, electronics. In addition, to these changes, the Ashforth Green Council was formed, which focuses on how Ashforth can reduce the company’s environmental impacts through increased recycling, increased energy efficiency, and waste reduction by employing environmentally responsible methods and products.

“We’re proud of these awards given to Ridgebury Officenter, Greenwich Plaza and 707 Summer Street. The awards confirm that Ashforth buildings have some of the finest office space in Fairfield County,” said Robert Hartt, executive vice president of Albert B. Ashforth, Inc. – Management Services. “Our buildings are well maintained with exquisite customer service, and they’re environmentally friendly. In addition to this, we are able to assist many community organizations by holding several charitable drives throughout the year.”
