Construction Makes Contribution in Honor of 25 Years in Business
A.P. Construction
Company, a division of The Ashforth Company, announced that as
part of recognizing the company’s 25 years
in business this year, A.P.
Construction contributed $10,000 to the new Mill River Playground
in Downtown Stamford, CT. The
Mill River Playground is the second of many major new investments
coming to the $50 million plus Mill River Park project.
In addition to A.P. Construction’s monetary contribution,
the company organized an Employee Community Day on Wednesday, May
17 for all A.P. Construction and Ashforth employees. The
employees joined hundreds of volunteers in a week long Community
Build to erect an exciting new play environment designed in
collaboration with the children of Stamford.
“We feel very fortunate that for 25 years, A.P. Construction Company
has been able to develop into a successful construction business here in the
Fairfield County area. In response to our success, we are excited that we are
able to give back to the community by making contributions particularly to
this exciting new playground for the children and also have the opportunity
to involve our employees in erecting this innovative play environment,” said
Andrew B. Ashforth, CEO of A.P. Construction Company and Co-CEO of The Ashforth
Company. “To make a long-term difference in Fairfield County, we believe
we need to involve our employees in our commitment to the community, so over
the past 25 years we’ve worked hard to incorporate volunteerism as part
of our corporate culture. Participating in this Playground Community
Build is just one example. Promoting a company of civic-minded individuals
living in different communities keeps us in touch with current needs and fosters
enthusiasm,” added Ashforth.
The playground, expected to be completed Sunday, May 21, is rising
at the corner of Tresser Boulevard (Rte 1) and West Main Street. Children
at Hart Magnet and Stillmeadow Schools worked with the designer,
Leathers & Associates to design Mill River Playground last
October. The theme of the playground is the habitat of Mill River.
It includes river wildlife houses that depict animals in their
habitat and ceramic tiles designed by kids that show the river
wildlife and environment. Using the children’s suggestions,
the playground also includes a tree fort that A.P. Construction
sponsored w/ its $10,000 donation, a twisty slide, maze, sprinklers,
climbing wall, rainbow bridge and many others.
